This source’s main purpose is to explain the history, definition and phenomenal of social network sites (SNSs). SNSs are merging cultures while creating relationships with those with similar interest. It explains the origins of several SNSs and how they became popular so fast. It discusses how different cultures use these as communication tools.
This piece contains a lot of background information that is needed to understand the origins of SNSs. Even though there is not a specific study conducted in this piece, it helps audience members understand SNSs as it evolves and grows over night. It’s hard to fully understand what SNSs are the most effective ways to interact. Audience member may include who don’t understand SNSs. The limitation may be with their audience members because audience members may not fully understand the origin of SNSs because it still is “new” to the world.
This background information will be useful in my project because I will supply my audience with necessary information needed to understand the evolution of SNSs. It’s important to have my audience members on the same page as I am when discussing my objectives for my project. I will mostly be using the history of SNSs in my project.

This research was conducted by a professor at Iowa State University. His results indicate the misuses of Facebook. He acknowledges how his students text-message during class, talk on their cell phones, and use wireless lecture halls as a time to get on Facebook. He does agree that Facebook is a positive tool but students can be affected by social networks. Most of his concerns are how students use Facebook unethically.
His argument concentrates of the improper uses of Facebook. Audience members may include other professors/faculty and students at universities across the nation. Some of his limitations include those who do not have cell phones or lap tops who can’t go on Facebook during class time. Another limitation is it’s hard to distinguish the total amount of students who abuse social networks during classroom time.
I plan to use this information when I discuss negative communication options Facebook has. After reading this article, I realized Facebook tends to be bias because you create what you want others to read about yourself. I plan to include this negative aspect to show that Facebook is not perfect.

With social networks became popular over night and are becoming common all over the internet. This was a session used to gain an understanding of the issues related to managing different social networks through one system. It also looks at how users use these systems to present themselves among their school, environment, and workplace.
The importance of this session is to see how users of different social networks combine all of them into one. This is something new and already users with multiple accounts use these programs to help organize their profiles. Audience members include those who are existing members of social media networks. A limitation is this is a new gadget; a lot of people do not know this organizer is available.
This information will be useful for my project because it expresses how social networks are expanding and that this effective communication tool is not stopping any time soon. In the future, be expecting a lot of websites, products, or tools to enhance your social media profiles and the way you use them.

It’s important to understand how Facebook members feel when using the website. This information is vital because we can understand why Facebook is so popular. Audience members include Facebook members. Limitations are presented by only looking at the good changes Facebook has made. This abstract would be more beneficial if it contained negative aspects as well.
I will use this information when I discuss how Facebook is the most effective social media network. I will explain how they have made changes to improve on how members express their selves. This is necessary information that is needed in my project to prove my point.

This is useful information because it’s one more example of hoe users can personalize their preferences and settings to reflect their interest. Users can view others users with the same application. Without realizing, users are assigned and grouped with one another who share interest in that application. Audience members include those who are members of social media websites. A certain limitation this article is missing is that not all social networking websites offer applications.
The information above is useful in my project because it describes how social media networks link one person with another without introducing one another. It will provide evidence in my project that social networks are solely made to link others with similar characteristics and interest.

The study above concentrates on how Online Social-Networking Websites (OSNWs) like Facebook, are changing the dynamics of how individuals become acquainted. Its main purpose is to determine how accurate are impressions based on OSNW profiles. Based on 133 Facebook profiles, profile authors did engage in some self-enhancement and impressions show some accuracy.
Importance of this information can show how Facebook (along with other OSNWs) play a greater role in the social landscape when communicating. Audience members include members of OSNW. Limitations include bias or made up profiles on Facebook.
I plan to use this in my project because it focuses on two crucial parts for my project. It explains and identifies our virtual impressions based on hoe we interact of Facebook. It shows how we are becoming less timid/anxious from limiting face to face communications.

This is important because it we are seeing many different people from all over the world with similar demographics becoming friends on Facebook. Since this deals with almost every age groups, there is a numerous amount audience members. No matter what your age is, this article can relate to you.
I will use the comparisons from this article in my project. Comparing Facebook with other social media networks will prove my argument of how Facebook is the leading social media website. This source will also back my statement up when I declare Facebook is the leading and most effective social media network.

This paper investigates the uses of social networking site Facebook, and the gratifications users derive from those uses. There were two separate studies done on Facebook users. The first study had 137 users describe how they use Facebook and what they enjoyed about their use. These descriptions were then grouped into 42 different categories (most popular answers) and then were completed again by 241 users. Results expressed seven common categories: social connection, shared identities, content, social investigation, social network surfing and status updating. People with common cultures/demographics were also associated.
This study is important as it shows how people with same cultures/demographics interact more and how most Facebook users use this website for similar reasons. These seven categories link us together while we supply information about ourselves. Audience members include Facebook members and potential members. Limitations include other users from other social networking websites. It’s hard to distinguish the common categories if they only study members of Facebook only.
The seven most common uses of Facebook will be used for my project. It is interesting how most people are using Facebook to communicate with others. This aspect can help explain how Facebook is an excellent “new” way to communicate and interact with others.

The importance of this article is to observe and discuss how Facebook links similar cultures/people together by their communication tools. Audience members include those who use Facebook. Behavior examinations are limited because it only concentrates on only five specific communication tools. There could be different ways to communicate in Facebook that the article does not discuss.
This is useful for my project because it focuses on the specific ways people interact with each other. With this detailed information I can explain in depth on each communicating function. The social structure will be used in my project to explain how Facebook links similar groups together.

Examiners determined computer-mediated communication (CMC) was a major impact on how these ways of communication were transforming. The study discusses the importance of all the different ways Facebook members can communicate.CMC is used by younger adults more so than face to face communication. Results show communication has several layers when interacting with others from the help of Facebook.
The importance of the study shows how rapid this change is affecting young adults all over the world. Facebook along with other social networks, are growing from usage of their members. Audience members include college students and younger adults who use Facebook or other social networks. A big limitation this study had was the number of participants in the study. Only 16 students were used to represent the whole college community.
This material is useful because it discusses how Facebook is changing the ways we interact with each other. CMC is a new communication tool that is developing among younger adults. I plan to use this term in my project. The whole study contains useful information that I will use in my research. The results fit perfectly with what I want to prove to my audience members. This study is a perfect example of how Facebook has become an effective tool on how we interact with others.
